I have never apologized to anybody: Azerbaijani ambassador to Iran

“Iranian newspapers spread untrue reports that I was invited to the Foreign Ministry of this country to apologize. It is next invention of Iranian press”, Azerbaijani ambassador to Iran Abbasali Hasanov told APA.

The ambassador said Iranian side had not expressed protest to him regarding the Israeli President Shimon Peres’ visit to Azerbaijan. “There is not a grain of truth in the Iranian newspapers’ reports. The Azerbaijani ambassador was not invited to the foreign ministry of Iran and there were no any talks about that”.

The diplomat said Iran’s Sahar TV took preconceived position toward Azerbaijan: “Iranian press didn’t learn my opinion about these issues. Shahar TV never says truth about Azerbaijan. I didn’t apologize to anyone. It is an invention”.

Commenting on reports about recalling of Iranian ambassador Mohammad Baghir Bahrami from Azerbaijan due to the visit of Israeli president, Ambassador Hasanov said it is ordinary case that ambassadors are regularly recalled for some consultations. “There is no problem in the Azerbaijan-Iran relations. Our relations are developing in running order. Only press is making a noise. There is no problem in the intergovernmental relations”.

The Iranian newspapers said Ambassador Hasanov was invited to the Iranian foreign ministry to explain his strongly-worded thoughts about Iran in his interviews with Azerbaijani press and he apologized for his thoughts saying that it was made only to satisfy the Azerbaijani newspapers and had no official character.
