NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA) may assist Azerbaijan in bringing military-purposed products in line with the alliance’s standards, NAMSA Operational Logistics Support Programme Manager Bulent Tudes told APA-Economics.
According to him, Azerbaijan has already formed its own military industry and is cooperating in a number of NATO countries.
"We offer assistance to Azerbaijan in bringing products produced for military purposes in line with NATO standards. This issue is up to the Government of Azerbaijan. If Baku expresses its consent, NAMSA may consider projects", he added.
Tudesh also noted that these projects may also help modernize Soviet era military equipment owned by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.
He said the development of military-industrial complex in Azerbaijan will reduce its dependence on other countries, particularly Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
