Strasbourg to host series of evens to commemorate Khojaly Massacre

On Feb. 25, conference entitled “Azerbaijan’s Diaspora policy and its realization” will be held at the Institute of Translation, Simultaneous Translation and International Relations (ITIRI) of Strasbourg University where Chief of Socio-Political Department of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration Qafar Aliyev will take part.

Chief of Azerbaijan House in Strasbourg Mustafa Alince mentioned that Strasbourg Azerbaijan House is planning to held series of events on commemoration of 18th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy and raise awareness about Azerbaijan as part of cooperation between the Department of Turkology and Institute of Translation, Simultaneous Translation and International Relations (ITIRI).

Besides the upcoming conference, special radio program on Khojaly tragedy will be presented to radio listeners.

The radio program will be available on air on Strasbourg local wave (RBS FM 91.9) and at http://www.radiorbs.com website.

Azerbaijanis living in Strasbourg are planning to held “MAIL” demonstration within two days (Feb. 24-25), which is intended to send around 6,000 emails of announcements on Khojaly tragedy in French, English and Turkish languages.

These emails will be sent primarily to the Council of Europe (CE), European Union (EU) and other international organizations, as well as to the Senate and other state bodies of France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Swiss Republic, USA, Israel, and Australia, including the world media.

Moreover, on Feb. 26, Qafar Aliyev is also expected to address the conference attended by students of Turkological Department at Strasbourg University speaking on “Azerbaijan Diaspora policy, its realization and France-Azerbaijan Relations.”

On Feb. 27, demonstrations on 18th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy will be also held at the Kleber square of Strasbourg city, which will be accompanied by Azerbaijan Cultural Relations Community, Azerbaijan Culture Community and Association of Azerbaijani Students Studying in France.

The Turkish, French and other organizations in Strasbourg city are also likely to join these demonstrations.

Following the demonstration Aliyev will visit Azerbaijan House and meet with Azerbaijani students studying in Strasbourg.
