Armenia can not join the Geneva convention on mines prohibition unless the Karabakh conflict is resolved, considers chief of department of engineering troops of the Armenian Defense Ministry Vostanik Adoyan.

"We are aware of the situation on the Armenian borders. Unless the peace treaty of Karabakh concluded, the signing of the Geneva convention on mines prohibition is impossible", noted he.
The Geneva convention on prohibition of application, storage of reserves, production and transfer of mines and their termination was signed in 1997.
The convention member states undertook to terminate all mines or ensure their termination under the regulations of the said convention and not to apply, produce or purchase them in any circumstances.
