President presides meeting dedicated to winter preparation for winter session

Today in the Presidential palace Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev presided meeting dedicated to preparations for winter season.

Opening the meeting President said that though the potentials of the country have increased, there is needs for energy, APA reports.

The president said that some of the new electric stations have already been commissioned and the measures to be taken will profitable from energy security point of view. He also said that there is improvement in gas supply.

He noted that Azerbaijani imports 4.5ml cub meter gas per year and this occupies a special place in the energy balance of the country.

Russia intends to reduce the exported gas by three times and to double the fees. Therefore, there is a need to search additional sources. Saying that he has gave tasks to SOCAR six months ago, the president said that strict measures are taken to strengthen gas production, and this will increase energy balance. The president said that understanding memorandum was signed between Azerbaijan and EU on strategic partnership in the sphere of strategy. The energy security of the region depends on Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan is a new energy source for whole Europe and this increases the energy potentials," he said.

Then the chief of Baku major's Office Hajibala Abutalibov, the chief of "Azerigaz" CJSC Alikhan Malikov, the chief of "Azernergy" JSC Etibar Pirverdiyev, the chief of "Azersu" JSC Nizameddin Rzayev, the chief of "Bakuelektricshebeke" JSC Baba Rzayev and the chief of "Azeristiliktejhizat" JSC Yashar Hasanov gave information about preparation for winter.

The president gave corresponding instructions to the chiefs of relevant bodies to prevent problems in winter.
