Over 723 pedestrian accidents registered for first 9 months of 2010 in Baku

The pedestrian accidents reached 37.9% (723 cases) among traffic accidents registered in Azerbaijan for the first 9 months of this year, the Head Traffic Police Department said.
About 228 pedestrians died, 558 were injured as a result of these accidents. About 77 road accidents occurred because pedestrians violated traffic rules.

About 50 children and adolescents died, 197 people were injured as a result of traffic accidents registered in the republic. About 32 pedestrians died. About 112 pedestrians were injured.

About 42.8 percent (816 cases) occurred as a result of driving at high speed, 23.7 percent (452 cases) - as a result of overtaking, 8 percent (154 cases) - violation of traffic rules, 2.5 percent (47 cases) - driving while intoxicated.
