Vatican intends to promote inter-state, intercultural and interfaith relations with Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan is a Muslim country which is always open for dialogue with other religions and cultures, which is particularly attractive for Vatican," President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi said at a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev.
The pontiff arrived in Azerbaijan on a return visit. Azerbaijani minister visited Vatican for talks in April. As part of his visit to Vatican, world famous singer Mugam Alim Gasimov performed a concert there.
Ravasi will discuss cooperation between Azerbaijan and Vatican during Baku visit. He will also hold talks with state official and representatives of religious confessions in Azerbaijan.
“We are interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in various areas of culture like art, literature and music,” Ravasi said.
“Also, we would like to invite the Azerbaijani film directors and producers to participate in various festivals that take place in Rome."
Azerbaijan is not the only country in the Muslim world with which Vatican cooperates.
"Our goal is to promote relations with all Muslim countries. In particular, we have projects in the sphere of culture and interreligious relations with Iran," Ravasi noted.
