Minister: Georgia to join Viking transportation project

30 May 2011 [12:11] - TODAY.AZ
Georgia will soon become an official participant of the Viking international freight transportation project, said Georgia's Economy Minister Vera Kobalia.

This statement was made in Vilnius, where Kobalia met with the Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania Eligyusom Masiulis.

Viking international freight transportation project connects the container systems of the Baltic and Black Seas.

"Georgia's joining this project will significantly increase the turnover both in the ports of Georgia and the railway transportation," said Kobalia.

She met with the Lithuanian counterpart at the International Transport Forum, which also considered issues of development of transport systems between Europe and Asia and greater involvement of Georgia in the process.
