Turkey to create Aero Cosmic Center

The first Aero Cosmic Center in Turkey will be introduced into operation in 2014, Sabah newspaper reported on Monday.

The center, that will be named AIT Center, will be built by the Italian joint venture Thales Alenia Space. AIT Center will be located on an area of ??three thousand square meters.

The construction of the center will be launched in October of this year and will end in May, 2014.

Turkey launched its second satellite Gokturk-2 from Chinese Zhiuguan base on December 18, 2012. The satellite is used for security purposes.

The first Turkish observation satellite RASAT was launched in 2011.

Turkish Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Nihat Ergun has previously said that Turkey is preparing a 10-year program of investing in the development of satellite technology of the country.

Currently, Turkey's primary task is the creation of satellite launch systems, Ergun said.
