Exercises held on Caspian Sea testify to high skills of Azerbaijan State Border Service: president's adviser

Exercises held on the Caspian Sea testify to high skills, military and psychological readiness of Azerbaijan State Border Service (SBS), said presidential adviser on military affairs Vahid Aliyev.
On Sept. 22-25, SBS conducted military exercises on the Caspian Sea. The exercise of about 2,000 soldiers demonstrated battle readiness, using 29 ships and motor boats, three helicopters, artillery, armored vehicles and heavy caliber weapons.

The purpose of exercises is to ensure interests of Azerbaijan on the Caspian Sea, check the combat readiness of the armed forces, as well as improve personnel practices in activities for combating terrorist groups.

After the exercises, the Chief of SBS Lieutenant-General Elchin Guliyev told journalists that this is the first large-scale exercises on the Caspian Sea.

Noting the successful completion of the exercises, the Head of the SBS said that he was pleased with the military and moral training of military personnel.

Guliyev said the exercises were held in accordance with the plans for the current year and had noting to so with the statement by Turkmenistan to establish a military base on the Caspian Sea.
