President of Azerbaijan visiting Azerbaijan's north - UPDATED

The aim of the visit to the regions is to study problems and seacch of ways out of them, said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at a meeting with Guba public.

President Ilham Aliyev visited Guba in the framework of his visit to the northern region of Azerbaijan Saturday.

"The implementation of social programs will promote settlement of most problems of the regions. The aim of the visit to the regions is to study the problems and find ways of their settlement", said Aliyev, adding that the priority trends of the state policy will be the settlement of problems and regional development.

"Elimination of poverty and problems, inclusion of Azerbaijan into the list of the developed countries are the top priotiry. We have all opportunities for it", said the head of the state.

In turn, the president was informed that 13,022 jobs were created in Guba through the past five years, over 4,500 of them are permanent, 32 schools were build and GDP level and investments have doubled.

During the visit to the norther region, the President also got familiar with the construction works at the Baku highway - Russian border.

The head of the state was informed that the construction of the highway is held in three stages. The first stage has already completed -  part of the highway - Baku-Sumgayit has already been launched and the other two stages continue.

The highway is being built on the basis of advanced technologies. A part of the road (16-134 kilometers) will be embedded in concrete. 25 bridges, 10 road units and 15 cattle roads were laid via the highway. 3,000 facilities and 7,000 workers were involved to accelerate the construction.

Day.Az reports with reference to ANS-Press that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived in Guba region of Azerbaijan.

During the visit to Heydar Aliyev's part, the head of the state saw the memorial to national leader, memorial to academician Zarifa Aliyeva, as well as a memorial to the victims of genocide, committed by Armenians in 1918.

Ilham Aliyev familiarized with the construction works, carried out in the Diagnostical center.

The president visited the Krasnaya Sloboda, where Jews are settled. Ilham Aliyev is expected to visit Gusary on September 28.

According to Novosti-Azerbaijan, the head of the state will familiarize with the infrastructure of the visited regions, visit the socioeconomic establishments and take part in the opening of a number of industrial enterprises and meet with public representatives.

In the framework of the visit, Aliyev will familiarize with the works, conducted for construction of a highway from the Baku capital to the Russian border.
