"The only relatively positive step was an attempt to settle the Armenian-Turkish relations, but it was also distorted", noted Surenyants, saying that instead of speaking of the possible creation of the Armenian-Turkish historical commission, the president should have offered creation of the reconciliation commission.

"We are for normalization of relations with all our neighbors, but I do not believe that Serzh Sargsyan's announcement will change anything in the Armenian-Turkish relations, as the system, created by Robert-Kocharyan, and preserved since present, adheres to the slogan "three fronts-one border", noted Surenyants.

Also, the member of the political bureau of the Respublika opposition party noted that Serzh Sargsyan made the due statement in Moscow and expressed opinion that it is rather Russia's will than Armenia's. "Closed borders are not profitable for Russian capital, largely represented in Armenia", said Surenyants. "We will see that the announcement was purely declarative in some time following the football match", noted the oppositioner.
