Azerbaijan's Ambassador in UK meets with British Minister for Europe

14 December 2007 [10:15] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan’s ambassador to the United Kingdom Fakhraddin Gurbanov met Wednesday with UK Minister for Europe Jim Murphy.
Discussions at the meeting focused on regional economic projects including Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum gas pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars railway projects.

Ambassador F. Gurbanov said he is satisfied with the existing bilateral relationships, stressing the need to deep them even more.

Ambassador noted that delay in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict impedes regional integration. Ambassador expressed concern over the fact that UK-based “Sunvil Travel” agency organizes tours to the occupied Azerbaijani lands.

Jim Murphy said UK places a great emphasis on bilateral ties with Azerbaijan and stressed an important role of the country in ensuring energy security.

Minister said British Government did not change its stance recommending British citizens avoid travels to the occupied Azerbaijani lands. J. Murphy said relevant actions towards Sunvil Travel would be taken.
