The 3rd International Symposium of Common Languages of Turkic World - Patterns under the topic Intersections in Felt Art - was held in Baku on October 25-27.
The event was co-organized by, the Ministry of Culture and the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum with the support of the Azerbaijani National Commission for UNESCO, the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States (MFGS) and Baku Yunus Emre Institute, Trend Life reported.
One of the most striking events at the symposium was the Fashion Show held at the Four Seasons Baku Hotel.
Seven designers from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan presented their clothing collections, inspired by the art of felting.
A lottery was held during the fashion show. The guests were awarded valuable prizes.
The evening continued with the performance of "Gaya" music band.
A conference, thematic exhibitions, master classes and fair were also held as part of the symposium.
The event brought together 83 participants from 22 countries. The conference was held in Azerbaijani, English, Russian and Turkish.
The symposium covered such topics as "From the History of Felt", "Traditions and Modernity", "Felt in Clothes and Interior", "Felt in Museum Collections", "Artistic and Technical Features of Felt", "Felt in Contemporary Art", " Felt like a fashion trend".
Two exhibitions entitled "Traditional Art of Felt" and "Felt in Contemporary Art" were held within the framework of the project. Talented artists from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, Sweden, Hungary and the United States took part in the event.
In addition, master classes by world-famous Turkish and Kyrgyz masters Mehmet Girgich and Theresa May-O'Brien were organized.
A three-day exhibition-fair was held in the territory of the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve.
