Azerbaijan decreases grain production by 33% year-on-year

As of November 1, 2010, Azerbaijan gathered 1.999 mln tons of grain from the fields, down 33.1% compared with a year ago.

According to State Statistical Committee, at the same time, Azerbaijan gathered 953.5 thousand potatoes, 1 157.4 thousand tons of vegetables, 560.2 thousand tons of fruits and berries, 433 000 tons of melon, 108.3 thousand tons of grape, 3.1 thousand tons of tobacco, 179 000 tons of white beet, 530.5 tons of green tea leaf during the same period of 2010. Besides, 28.1 thousand tons of cotton was gathered and delivered to processing plants.

271.7 thousand meat, 1 281.1 thousand milk, 992.9 mln eggs and 15.3 thousand tons of wool were produced. The meat production increased by 6.9%, milk by 7.6%, eggs by 0.1% and wool by 3.1% compared with 2009.

Thus, the output production in crop area decreased by 10.1%, increased by 6.4% in breeding area, total production of agriculture was lower 3.8% compared to the last year's results.
