Crime rate in Baku ups by 1.3%

About 5,464 crimes were registered in Baku during the first six months of 2010. The figure is more by 1.3 percent than the same period of 2010, the Baku Central Police Department's report on activities on the first half of 2010 says.

During the report period, the percentage of solved crimes accounted for 80.7% compared to 79.2% in the same period of 2009. Moreover, detection of crimes against the person hit 100 percent as in the same period of 2009.

The police recorded 1,952 crimes against property, which is less by 11 cases than the same period of 2009. The number of crimes related to drugs dropped from 867 (first half of 2009) to 856 cases (six months of 2010). This police reveled 91 percent of crimes (92%).

Crimes related to infringements of traffic regulations increased by 3.5 percent compared to the same period of 2009. The number of traffic accidents leading to fatalities increased from 130 to 150 cases.
