
8th International Baku Conference of Ombudsmen on “Human rights and environment: legal and ethic aspects of climatic change” devoted to June 18 – “Human rights Day” and “Year of Ecology” started in Baku today.
Delivering speech at the event Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova noted that this event has been held by UNESCO for three years already. Ombudsmen of Thailand, Slovenia, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova or representatives of National Human Rights Institutions, international experts of these countries are attending the conference. Suleymanova said that sounded opinions at the event would be reflected in the Baku Decleration which would be adopted at the end of the meeting.
So far, ombudsmen of 47 countries and their representatives have taken part in 7 Baku conferences.
