The Azerbaijani Ministry of Health will continue works on the suspension of activity of pharmacies in case of non-compliance with standards, the Azerbaijani Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev said today.

"Everyone who works in the pharmacy sphere knows that this kind of activity is realized only after obtaining a special permission, but some continue to operate illegally," the Minister said.
He said although recently the market of medicines in the country has improved significantly and the number of sales of counterfeit medicines has been reduced, the activities in this direction will continue.
According to Shiraliyev, now Azerbaijan imports 3,000 items of medicines. Earlier the country imported more than 15,000 names of medicines, including substandard from different countries. As a result of the measures conducted by the Ministry of Health to identify and eliminate cases of substandard medicines supply in the country their import was prevented, he said.
