EU special representative for South Caucasus arrives in Tbilisi

The European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Philippe Lefort has arrived in Tbilisi. During the visit to Georgia Lefort will meet with the Georgian government's senior officials, the Georgian State Office said. Lefort will meet with Vice Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze today.

He is also scheduled to hold meetings in the Georgian Foreign Ministry. Lefort will also visit the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia, who observes the situation in the conflict zones in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The State Office said that the meetings in Tbilisi will discuss issues of stability and security within the EU relations with South Caucasus countries.

A wide range of issues regarding the occupied Georgian territories and the situation there will also be discussed.
