Moderate earthquake shakes Iran

A mild earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale struck southwestern Iran on Tuesday morning, reported ISNA. The quake came on 10:02 am local time.

The most deadly earthquake in Iran came in southwestern city of Bam in 2003, where some 28000 people were killed.

Only 2,000 people have been pulled out alive since the quake destroyed the historic city, including its ancient citadel, a world architectural heritage site and a major tourist attraction.
