Armenian Ombudsman slams Prosecutor General

26 February 2010 [12:27] - TODAY.AZ
“Well said, nothing to add. Everybody makes mistakes, but we are admitting our guilt. The work of the Prosecutor’s Office may be of different nature, and the public has to share the guilt,” Armenian Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan stated at a meeting with journalists.

He was commenting on Armenia's Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan’s latest statements.

According to Hovsepyan, “the murders of ten people on March 1, 2008, remained unexposed because the public did not render effective assistance to the investigatory body.”

Speaking of other cases of injustice, the Ombudsman expressed his concern over the fact the human rights guarantees by the Constitution are not respected in Armenia.

“Slipshod work. So the struggle must be continued. You are mistaken if you think democracy is easy to build up,” Harutyunyan said.
