Aktau was declared the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2025 at the 41st meeting of the member states of the International Organization for the Development of Turkic Culture and Art (TURKSOY) in Ashgabat, Azernews reports.
The event was attended by TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, representatives from the cultural sector of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkiye, as well as heads of international organizations.
The main focus of the meeting was the development of Turkic culture and the strengthening of fraternal ties between Turkic states. Participants discussed and made decisions to intensify joint efforts in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Turkic-speaking peoples.
