President of Uzbekistan reviews Karshi city improvement work

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived in Kashkadarya region June 30, Uzbekistan national news agency (UzA) reported.

President Karimov reviewed the city improvement work in the administrative center of Karshi city.

According to the city reconstruction plan, approved by the president, the territory of the city of Karshi, which celebrated the 2700th anniversary in 2006, is being expanded. New facilities are being built as well as a 56 kilometer ring road with six overpasses, and bridges.

The large-scale measures are being taken upon the president’s decision on the reconstruction plan in the city of Karshi and a modern road communication development program as of July 25, 2013.

President Karimov reviewed a new bridge with a length of 108 meters and a width of 27 meters, built on the ring road, crossing the Kashkadarya River, as well as the Amir Timur reconstructed bridge.

The president stressed the need for improving the territory adjacent to the bridges, planting trees along the road and by the river, creating the conditions for leisure of the population, building a boat station.

Then the president reviewed the multi-story houses, built in the center of Karshi.

Kashkadarya region produces about 11 percent of the industrial output of Uzbekistan.

According to the Kashkadarya industrial potential development program for 2013-2016, approved by the president, some 555 projects worth $2.98 billion are planned to be implemented.
