Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia on Thursday arrested five senior officers of the Constitutional Security Department of the Interior Ministry. As lawyers of the detained told Trend, all the night seven members of the Department were questioned in the Prosecutor's Office, but five of them were arrested in the morning.
The senior officials of the Interior Ministry are accused of illegal suppression of freedom of citizens and intentional damage to property of others. The case on damage to property of the company "Burji", owned by current Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, is being investigated.
As Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani told reporters, these arrests are not related to the case against former defence minister and interior minister Bacho Akhalaia.
