A new hydroelectric power plant (HPP) in Karabakh will very negatively affect the ecological situation in Azerbaijan, Director of the National Center for Ecological Forecasting Telman Zeynalov said, commenting on the opening of new HPP in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
He said the Armenian side causes economic damage to the territories of Azerbaijan with the support of external forces. Illegally constructing HPP, Armenia deprives Azerbaijan of irrigation water. "This will lead to the lack of groundwater, desertification, erosion, landslides and other negative environmental impacts in the future,” he added.
Zeynalov believes this question should be raised before the UN with a view to stop Armenia’s atrocities. "Armenia itself cannot take such steps if some from the outside did not support it. The country does not have so much funds. All these done to cause damage and harm to Azerbaijan and tear Karabakh from us,” he stated.
