01 June 2006 [17:19] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Polad Sirajov, who was detained in US-led Guantanamo detention camp facing the charge of having links with al-Gaeda, has not been proved to commit a crime.

APA reports quoting Elchin Behbudov, head of the Azerbaijan Committee Against Torture as saying.

"As there is no criminal content in Polad’s action, no court proceedings will be held against him. This case can be considered as closed," Behbudov said.

The human rights activist also said that Sirajov is being treated in a rehabilitation center abroad. His family members say he is expected to be extradited to Russia after he recovers. However, it is not yet known when his treatment will be over.

Polsd Sirajov received higher education in Turkey. He worked in Russia for some time. The US militants captured him near Mazari-Sherif in Afghanistan, and he was detained in the Guantanamo prison in Cuba for several years.
