“Technical issues of the meeting of the CIS socialist parties to be held in Moscow are being decided at the moment,” Azerbaijan People’s Socialist Party Chairman Rovshan Huseynov said.
“We previously planned to hold the event in mid-November. But we may change the date and set it at early December due to technical issues. The date of the event is still unknown. It will be decided soon,” he said.
"We will discuss this issue in the Coordinating Council meeting in Moscow in a few days,” he said.
He noted that previously a number of leftist political parties signed a document on the establishment of the Coordinating Council of socialist, social democratic parties of the CIS countries.
The host of the event, to be held in Moscow, is the Fair Russia Party
“This will be our first meeting,” Huseynov said.
“The next event, meeting of the Coordinating Council will be held in Baku,” he said.
He said up to 15 parties will attend the Moscow meeting.
"The forum aims to define strategy of the left forces in political struggle,” he said.
Huseynov also spoke about the APSP preparations for the coming municipal elections.
"A total 101 candidates have been nominated from our party for the municipal elections on an individual basis in 74 constituencies," he said.
"The members of our party have began to prepare for the municipal elections for a long time. Nearly 85 percent of our candidates who are nominated individually, are young people, because our party is young. That's good, because this is the first experience of the party members,” Huseynov added.
He noted that later a general list of party members who are nominated individually will published in the media.
"The party will fully support its candidates and will participate in events they will organize,” he said.
Azerbaijan will hold municipal elections on Dec. 23.
