05 August 2009 [14:02] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has warned the citizens about the current situation in Tajikistan.
Though the common situation in terms of security is stable in Tajikistan, the trips to the country’s territories bordering on Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are very dangerous.

“There are marked and unmarked mined territories on both sides of the borders. They are Sogdi province, Tavildara region, Darvaz, Isfar, Vanj, Rushan, Rasht and Ru.”

Moreover, landslides occur in spring in Rasht valley and Garm/Tavildara region. The travelers should take this into consideration.

Though Dushanbe is safe, armed incidents often occur between the drug traffickers and border guards in the territories bordering on Afghanistan.

According to the World Health Organization, though swine flu has not been recorded in Tajikistan, there are confirmed facts in the region in general.

Foreign Ministry recommends the Azerbaijanis permanently, temporarily residing in and visiting Tajikistan to contact Azerbaijani embassy in Tajikistan in case of any problems.
