Turkish expert: Agreement on the road map also includes the resolution of the Karabakh

24 April 2009 [09:55] - TODAY.AZ
"The joint statement of the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Turkey regarding definition of the road map is a result of the process that started not yesterday.

It started two years ago and today we are witnessing serious achievements in the bilateral ties", said Sinan Ogan, head of the center for international relations and strategic studies.

"Turkey has repeatedly stated that it wants no problems with neighbor states and here we see the result of the new external policy of Ankara", noted the Turkish expert.

According to Ogana, the agreement of Yerevan and Ankara about the road map envisions the complex and package settlement of the problems of the Armenian-Turkish relations.

"Here it implies not only the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border. I think that the agreement on the road map includes the remaining issues of the agenda of bilateral relations, including the resolution of the Karabakh conflict. This is a phased process", noted he.

According to Sinan Ogan, the resolution of the Karabakh conflict remains on the agenda of the Armenian-Turkish relations.

"I consider that this year Yerevan, Ankara and Baku will manage to record serious attainments in the Armenian-Turkish relations and resolution of the Karabakh conflict", noted the Turkish expert.
