"The opposition has not any alternative opinions and concrete position regarding the referendum.

Therefore they decided to boycott the referendum,” Elnur Aslanov, Department Chief of Political Analysis and Information of Azerbaijani President’s Executive Office told APA while commenting on opposition’s decision on boycotting the referendum on March 18.The Department Chief said that the step was linked with current situation of opposition.

“It shows the opposition’s indecision and unscrupulousness. Their decision will not have any impact on the results of the referendum. The referendum is an initiative realized for implementation of democratic rights of Azerbaijanis. Every Azerbaijani will come to polling stations and will state their positive or negative opinion on the amendments and annexes to the Constitution. The main principle of democracy is that every person can freely take stance on the amendments and annexes proposed by any groups,” he said.

Movements for Karabakh and Republic and Republicans decided to boycott the referendum yesterday.
