Akif Muradverdiyev previously accused of attempt of coup d'etat released

Former chief of department of Azerbaijani President’s Office Akif Muradverdiyev has been released.

The Supreme Court reported that judge Tapdig Mahmudov considered the appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal.

The court passed a decision on applying article 70 (conditional condemnation) of the Criminal Code.

Akif Muradverdiyev got five-year probationary sentence and released from Justice Ministry’s medical unit.

The Binagadi district department of execution of court decisions will supervise his behavior.

The appeal asked to close the criminal case on Akif Muradverdiyev.

The Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes.

According to the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes, Akif Muradverdiyev faced charges under articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement), 308.2 (abuse of power), 311 (bribery), 313 (service forgery) of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to six years in jail.

The investigation into the case on charges under Article 28.278 (staging coup) and 28.220 (coup attempt) of the Criminal Code continues.
