Adil Ismayilov: "Zakir Garalov knows that no judge dares summons him"

The lawyer to the defendant Adalat Asadullayev Novruz Aliyev made defence speech.

He said that public prosecutors demanded heavy punishment for Adalat Asadullayev and asked the court to bring acquittal about him, APA reports.

"Officers of Criminal Investigation Department of National Security Ministry did their best to expose the gang, bur the importance of the case was reduced by investigators. There were great shortcomings in the investigation; the prosecution took no notice of contradictions during the investigation. According to the Code of Criminal Procedure, all doubtful moments should be in favor of the defendant, but it did not happen. Though the defendants said that during the investigation they gave testimonies under pressure, the prosecution based on the testimonies given during the investigation," he said.

Adil Ismayilov, the lawyer to the former chairman of MIA Crime Search Department Zakir Nasirov made a defence speech. He asked to renew the court's investigation.

"The indictment is in bad condition and this is the result of prosecution’s ignorance. Unfortunately, the accusations were confirmed by Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov. We solicited for Zakir Garalov's presence in the court, but our solicitations were declined. Zakir Garalov is sure that no judge in Azerbaijan dares summons him to the court. The court in Azerbaijan plays the role of notary's office; the court only confirms the prosecution’s accusations. Prosecutors are unaware of criminal law and code. Otherwise, Hussain Abdulvahabov would not be asked to get life sentence. I do not doubt Zakir Nasirov's innocence. Most of our solicitations were declined and consulting with Zakir Nasirov, the lawyer Tarlan Khanaliyev and I refuse to make defence speech," he said.

Ulvi Yusifov the lawyer to the other accused Elshan Mirzayev and Ulduza Ahmadova lawyer to Hussain Abdulvahabov also made defence speeches.

The trial will continue in the second half of the day.
