Korean President Roh leaves Sunday for 3-nation tour

Korean President Roh Moo-hyun will depart Sunday for a week-long visit to promote diplomatic and economic ties with Mongolia, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates.

According to Arirang News, President Roh will hold a summit with Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar to discuss greater access to the central Asian country's natural resources and increased market access by high-tech Korean companies. In Azerbaijan, President Roh will hold summit talks with President Ilham Aliyev over the possible joint development of Caspian oil and gas reserves. The energy diplomacy will continue in the United Arab Emirates during summit talks with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan.

Korea is seeking to gain a greater slice of the Middle Eastern country's booming construction and mobile communications markets.
