Director of SOCAR's Vienna office meets Nabucco Gas Pipeline International Gmbh Managing Director

Javadov briefed Mitschek on the activity of the representation, as well as ongoing and future projects in Azerbaijan. Mitschek highly praised the signing of a gas agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey, stressing the importance of the agreement for the two states and the whole region. He added “this agreement will give an impetus to other gas pipeline projects”.

Mitschek pointed out Nabucco participating states signed the intergovernmental agreement, which has already been ratified. He deemed it expedient for Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia to seal such a deal. Mitschek said Nabucco gas pipeline will create wide economic opportunities for the region, especially for gas exporters.

He also expressed hope for further cooperation with the SOCAR. Javadov stressed the importance for Azerbaijan to play a more important role in the European energy security.

He underlined Azerbaijan has always supported Nabucco project, adding, however, that “economic and commercial interests are the main factor for Azerbaijan to participate in any project”.
