Akif Maharramov: "I took $500 to license each drug-store in regions and $1000 in Baku and shared this money with Ali Insanov"

Today trial on case of former Health Minister Ali Insanov and ten more defendants accused of embezzlement, abuse of power and bribery continued in the second part of day at Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes.

Public prosecutor Kamran Aliyev solicited and asked to send questionnaire to Oncological Hospital in order to get information about the causes of department chief of Health Ministry Gatile Nasibova's death, APA reports.

He also offered to announce the testimonies of the accused to investigation in case if any controversy occurs in court. He solicited to investigate the testimonies of the accused that has controversy in their testimonies. Soliciting to the court the prosecutor asked to investigate Aleksandr Umnyashkins' testimony to court that he was imposed pressures during testifying to the investigation. His solicitations were allowed. Ali Insanov's solicitation against the composition of the court has not been considered.

Then the former chief of Pharmacological department of the Ministry Akif Maharramov said that he does not confess his crimes and did not function in any group. Answering the question about found great amount of money, Maharramov said that confiscated $1.218m from his house and $890 from his office belonged to his relatives. He said that his relatives were planning to build wedding place in Baku with this money. He said that he took $500 to license each drug-store in regions and $1000 in Baku and shared this money with Ali Insanov.

"We got $500 to license each drug-store in regions and $1000 in Baku and I took only 30% and gave left to Ali Insanov," he said. The trial will be continued on March 5.
