Anand ready for title-match with Rajabov

India's Viswanathan Anand won the 21st Ciudad de Villarrobledo rapid chess title following a four-way tie in the Spanish town of Villarrobledo on Sunday.

Anand, looking for some match practice ahead of his title defence in the Mainz Chess Classic against Azerbaijan's Teimour Rajabov that comes up next week, scored 7.5 points from nine rounds. Anand won six games and drew with Pia Cramling, Vadim Milov and Vladimir Malakhov.

Ivan Sokolov, Ruslan Ponomariov and Oleg Korneev (all 7.5 pts) finished in that order behind Anand.
