Georgian, Austrian foreign ministers hold meeting

Georgian and Austrian foreign ministers set a meeting date for the joint Georgian-Austrian economic governmental commission. The meeting is scheduled for Oct. 24-25.

As the Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend, this commission was agreed upon during a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze and the vice-chancellor of Austria, Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger, which took place in Salzburg.

The meeting was held as part of the annual international conference on global economy, which took place in Salzburg on Aug. 17-19.

At the meeting, the delegates took advantage of the opportunity to simultaneously coordinate the Georgian-Austrian economic forum. The forum will discuss prospects for Austrian investments in Georgia.

The ministers also discussed opportunities for further development of bilateral relations and stressed the importance of higher level bilateral visits.

Vashadze briefed the Austrian counterpart on the regional situation. Along with these issues, the meeting also focused on opening the Austrian Development Agency’s office in Georgia, along with the implementation of joint economic projects in Georgia in the sphere of agriculture, energy, and tourism.
