Georgian parliamentary speaker: Facebook direct means of communication with public and procuring information

10 August 2011 [11:53] - TODAY.AZ
According to the Georgian parliamentary speaker David Bakradze, Facebook is a direct means of communication with the public, also allowing access to their information. Bakradze made this statement after meeting in Parliament with his friends on Facebook.

He said that any country’s leadership is responsible for direct contact with the public and obtaining direct information about the citizens’ concerns.

"In this regard, the internet and social networks play a very important role. Many people have been registered specifically on Facebook. This is a direct way to become acquainted with the population’s opinions and provides constant contact with people. Today's work is the promotion of a direct communication channel between the authorities and the population", Bakradze said.
Bakradze has over 12,000 friends in the social network. Twenty most active users were selected among them and invited to Parliament.
