Iran's parliament suspends impeachment of FM

Iran's parliament has suspended issue on impeachment of Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi due to the declared resignation of Mohammad Sharif Malekzade, representative of the parliamentary conservative wing Vali Ismaili was quoted as saying by Mehr.

Some of Iranian members of parliament signed a scroll to impeach Foreign Minster Aliakbar Salehi because of appointing Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh as deputy of administrative and financial affairs.

Salehi met yesterday with members of the parliament’s security and foreign policy commission to avoid impeachment. Nevertheless, 33 MPs signed the scroll and insisted to impeach Salehi.

According to the legislation, ten signatures are enough to impeach a minister at parliament. MPs say Sharif Malekzadeh has some corruption and law-violence dossiers under investigation in judicature system of Iran.

Malekzadeh, whom High Advisor to the President and Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office Esfandiyar Rahim Mashaei appointed earlier as the Secretary-General of the High Council of Iranian Affairs Abroad, is charged in corruption and law-violence.

Recently, Iranian Judicature System started massive investigations about some corruption dossiers about officials close to Mashaei. First Vice president Mohammad Reza Rahimi, Vise president Hamid Baghaei and some of seniors charged in corruption.
