Bushehr power plant to go critical soon: Salehi

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said that Bushehr power plant reactor will go critical between May 5-10, reported IRNA.

Addressing a joint press conference attended by his Uruguayan counterpart Luis Almagro, he announced that reloading of Bushehr nuclear power plant as of Friday, April 8.

The fuel is loaded into the reactor of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, AtomStroyExport said as reported by RIA Novosti.

The heat generating assemblies have been loaded into the active zone at the Bushehr nuclear power plant after inspecting and cleaning the devices of the reactor today ," a statement said .

Late February, Iran has removed nuclear fuel from the Bushehr nuclear power station because of malfunction of one of the cooling pumps.

According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast, Russian experts advised to unload the fuel from the reactor, and Iran has agreed with the requirement for security reasons.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that the problem at the Russian-built nuclear reactor in Bushehr is technological, and will be resolved in two-three months.

According to him, the Iranians insisted that German equipment, which is located in Bushehr, is partially used, but this equipment requires preventive maintenance.
