Seven Turkish soldiers injured in separate mine blasts

Seven soldiers were injured on Sunday after land mines believed to have been planted by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) exploded in Şırnak and Hakkari.

One of the explosions took place in the Çukurca district of Hakkari province while the other took place in the İdil district of Şırnak province, leaving a total of seven soldiers injured. Also on Sunday, a number of gunshots were fired in Tunceli in an attempt to harass the military.

The explosion in Çukurca was 20 kilometers from the village of Üzümlü. A soldier was driving in a convoy towards the Karataş gendarmerie post when he drove over a mine that exploded.

The soldier was taken to the Hakkari Military Hospital. The explosion that occurred in Şırnak also left six soldiers injured. The mine was planted in Mağra Village on a road and exploded when the vehicle drove over it.
