Iran submits documents on violation of West's pledges to IAEA

01 March 2010 [20:33] - TODAY.AZ
Iran's Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh here on Monday provided IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano with concrete documents evidencing non-delivery of nuclear fuel to Iran.

The Iranian envoy highlighted the negligence of some IAEA Western member states who were obliged to provide Iran with its required nuclear fuel in due course but they refused to do so which is the root cause of Iran’s mistrust.

In the letter a copy of which has been forwarded to IRNA, the US had been committed to continually provide nuclear fuel for Tehran’s research reactor but it has not delivered the nuclear fuel per as its contract and even did not return the sum paid by Iran.

The letter has also referred to violation of Germany in carrying out its pledges in providing nuclear fuel for the Bushehr nuclear power plant in due time.

France is among those who have violated its contract signed in 1977 for delivery of some 50 tons of natural uranium in the form of (UF6) to Iran, pointed out the letter.

The above mentioned violations are quite enough to prove Iran’s mistrust to the Western countries in carrying out their commitments, concluded the letter.
