Russia can expand restrictive measures against Turkey

30 November 2015 [16:58] - TODAY.AZ

Restrictive measures against Turkey are only the first step and in the case of necessity, they can be expanded, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said, TASS reported.

Russian government can expand the list of banned products from Turkey and take other restrictive measures against the country, he added.

Medvedev also proposed to act pragmatically while taking such measures against Turkey - maximum affect on Ankara and minimum damage to Russia.

The prime minister noted that Russia’s restrictive measures against Turkey are a forced response to the aggressive and unfriendly actions of Turkey.

Turkish Air Force jets shot down the Russian SU-24 bomber after it entered Turkish airspace Nov. 24. Both pilots managed to eject and the plane crashed on Syrian territory.

Relations between Russia and Turkey have deteriorated after the incident.

Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to take special economic measures against Turkey by banning or restricting the import of certain products from this country.
