Some 20,000 houses will be built for people in quake-hit areas of East
Azerbaijan Province, the governor general of the province stated.
Ahmad Alireza-Beigi told the IRIB on Monday that people have been accommodated in makeshift settlements.
According to the latest official reports, 253 people died and 1380 were
injured in two successive earthquakes that hit the northwestern Iranian
province of East Azerbaijan on Saturday.
Of 538 villages in the East Azerbaijan, 110 villages sustained about 40
to 100 percent damage. About 5,000 buildings have been damaged.
