Turkey is one of the largest investors for Georgia, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said after a meeting with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc.
He said Turkey is one of the closest partners of Georgia in terms of trade and investment direction. The prime minister said Turkey invests a lot in Georgia, and today two important projects are being jointly implemented.
"These are construction of the Kars-Akhalkalaki railway and a power transmission line. Both projects are very important to us. Railway construction will be completed in eighteen months. It will be a route for Central Asian countries to Europe. As for the power transmission line, it promotes the export of electricity. Today, the Turkish companies are investing primarily in the construction of hydroelectric stations," Gilauri said.
As noted by Arinc, Turkey has long been a friend of Georgia.
"This year we mark the 20th anniversary of friendship. Turkish friends are investing in Georgia. We support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of your country," he said.
