Georgian parliament eyes age limit for election to parliament

Members of Georgian Parliament adopted amendments to the Constitution in the first reading on May 8, which envisage reducing age limit for election to the parliament. Some 112 MPs out of 150 unanimously voted for the adoption of the amendments.

Under the bill, a citizen of the republic aged 21 may become Georgian MP. Previously, it was possible after reaching 25.

The amendments to the Constitution will come into force after their publication on the website of the Legislative Herald of Georgia after their adoption in the second and third readings and after signing by the President.
