US Senator Robert P. Casey, a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, called upon Azerbaijan and Armenia to continue their activity towards the resolving differences related to Nagorno Karabakh conflict in a peaceful manner.
On December 10, the Senator sent a letter to the members of the U.S. Azeris Network (USAN), assuring them to have their concerns in mind should legislation regarding US aids to Azerbaijan come before the Senate for consideration.
“The US has an interest in promoting stability throughout the South Caucasus, and supports democratic governance and human rights in Azerbaijan and its neighbours. To this end, Azerbaijan has received more than $752 million in US aid since its independence. The United States and Azerbaijan have held annual bilateral security talks since 1996. I have consistently supported assistance to Azerbaijan through the annual appropriations process,” the letter says.
