Development of Azerbaijan-Iraq relationship mulled

Member of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ganira Pashayeva has met with the Secretary General of Iraqi Parliament Mohamed Al Khalidi. The sides exchanged views on the current situation in Iraq, development of Azerbaijan-Iraq relationship in all spheres. They highlighted the importance of boosting interparliamentary ties.

Pashayeva pointed out Azerbaijan pays great attention to expansion of relations with Iraq. She added that the visit of Iraqi-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Friendship Group members to Baku will contribute to development of interparliamentary relations.The Azerbaijani MP underscored her country is interested in stability, security and development in Iraq.

Pashayeva briefed the Iraqi official on the acts of vandalism committed by Armenia in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, genocide committed against Azerbaijani civilians and underlined that the four UN resolutions, documents adopted by Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and other international organizations demanding an unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijan`s occupied lands still remains unfulfilled.

Azerbaijani MP touched on the importance of raising awareness of the Iraqi community about realities of Azerbaijan and handed over materials and books on history, culture of Azerbaijan to the Iraqi official. She invited Mohamed Al Khalidi to pay a visit to Azerbaijan. In turn, Secretary General of Iraqi Parliament stressed significance of increasing bilateral efforts towards expanding cooperation between Azerbaijani and Iraqi nations.
