Iraqi minister: Azerbaijan and Iraq had many common values

Azerbaijan’s minister of foreign affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met Iraq`s minister of municipalities and public works Adil Muheydar Razi Al-Maliki.

The Iraqi Minister congratulated Mammadyarov on Azerbaijan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Al-Maliki said Azerbaijan and Iraq had many common values.

He stressed the necessity of opening Azerbaijan`s embassy in Iraq.Mammadyarov emphasized the importance of expanding the legal base for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iraq. “This will contribute to strengthening activity of the two countries` businessmen,” he added.

Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan`s Parliament had already made a decision on opening of the country’s embassy in Iraq.
