Czech Parliament adopts resolution in relation to 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic adopted resolution in connection with 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence, the press service of the Foreign Ministry informed. The resolution reads that the Republic of Azerbaijan was the first world democratic republic in Turkic and Moslem world and one of the world states providing universal voting right. Azerbaijan was recognized by all democratic states, including the Czech Republic.

“Azerbaijan was independent in 1918-1920, then it was in the composition of USSR during 1922-1991. On October 18, 1991, Azerbaijani Parliament accepted a Constitutional Act. Territorial integrity, state sovereignty and independence of Azerbaijan was unconditionally recognized and supported by the Czech Republic. Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Czech Republic, it plays an important role in diversification of European energy supply”, notes the resolution.

Besides, the document says that Azerbaijan is an active member of NATO’s PfP and EU’s Eastern Partnership programs: “We congratulate the Republic of Azerbaijan on occasion of the 20th anniversary of the independence”.
